PostSubject: In Extremo (bagpipes)   May 17th 2010, 14:33

Scotland always interested me, therefor I started exploring more in the metal-style including bagpipes.
I have heard some great work from all over the place. So I'm posting some bands I found.
(This message will be posted in the Bagpipe categories in case you didn't read this as first Very Happy)

In Extremo is a German Medieval metal band originating from Berlin. The band's musical style combines metal with medieval traditional songs, blending the sound of the standard rock/metal instruments with historical instruments (such as the bagpipes, harp, hurdy-gurdy and shawm). Versions of well-known traditional/medieval ballads make up the main part of their repertoire, but the band has written an increasing share of original material in recent years. Their own material is written in German, whilst the traditional songs are in a variety of languages, including Gaelic, Spanish, English, Norwegian, Swedish, Icelandic, French, Estonian, Hebrew, Latin, Old High German.

Well yeah...In extremo is one of my very favorites!
They actually played the first metal concert i've been to.
I saw them about 3 or 4 times live...can't wait to see them live again...
They are one of the best live bands i've ever seen!

Songs i really like:

Epic sing-a-long chorus:

nice slower song:

nymphenzeit acoustic

Never, Never I never will be deathless
Never, stupidity will be my hangman.

Yes indeed!
But it's not only the bagpige thing that makes their performances awesome.
They also got an epic Pyrotechnics show each an every time, it's mindblastig.
But the music is really great. Not that hard but it rocks though.
