First topic message reminder :

Hey folks

What is your opinion on clothing. I often hear some guys telling that you have to be black dressed all the time or you are not 'trve'.

Do you always dress black? What do you think about it?

I personally do wear normal jeans and some t-shirts in different colors, but i always like to wear bandshirts.

Tell us your opinion.

Cheers

It's the attitude that makes you a metalhead, not leather jacket and black gothic style lookout. I still stand on camo pants and band shirts, because they are really cool and still a little more like "normal" kind of clothing.

Metal listeners with long hairs are usually normal. But you can be a metalhead with long hair or being bald, so these are 2 really differend opinions. Nowadays I don't know is it trend or something like that having dreadlocks because near me over half of metal listeners have dread's. So I don't really have an opinion for that : Everyone can keep long hair, dread's or bald if they want to.

I come from a very small backwards town. When I was growing up I wore black with jeans and a jean jacket (I had filled the backpatch area with Canadian beer bottle caps! Pretty metal ;P) or my leather jacket and I've had my hair long since I was 15 (we'll just say I have had it long for more time than I have had it short). Not very extreme, but enough to turn heads where I'm from and all I would think is "f*** you!". These days I dress mostly the same, band shirts, jeans, leather jacket and still long hair. Does that make me metal? Probably not, I really agree it is an attitude. And you have it or you don't.

Had quite long hair, a bit over the shoulder length.
Wore black velvet clothing, had loads of spikes and the whole deal.
It kinda felt natural and for as far as i could see i was the first at school.

Definatly just be what you want to be; however also met a lot of guys who are just hammering on "be what you want to be" and even though they wanted to wear spikes etc. they didn't because they felt they were gonna be posers... quite a funny contradiction if you ask me ;-).

Black has nought to do with it. I recently found a Burzum shirt that's grey. :P

As for me, my long hair is down unless I need it up for work. I wear band shirts almost constantly because I want to. I wear blue or black jeans because I want to. I wear shorts because I want to. I made a patch jacket with studs on, because I wanted to. I spend money on band merchandise, because I want to. I'm buying chains off the internet because I want to. I cut up my shirts because I want to.

Where I'm from, if my attitude and personality were weak, I'd have no friends and be eaten alive; but because I know who I am and what I want to be, and because people can tell that I won't take shit, I'm accepted as being the only metalhead female in my town, and my college, and I'm good friends with people from all 'groups'.

It's attitude man. You either survive or you don't. That's metal.

I don't dress even remotely similar to the stereotypical metalhead. I have short hair (usually between one or two inches), I wear whatever jeans fit me well, and I usually wear a brightly-colored hooded sweatshirt. I rarely wear band merch, seeing as how I can't afford to buy what I'd like to.

Oh, and half the time I can be found wearing plaid, beach shorts. Hell, if that's not Metal, I don't know what is.

But yeah, it's the attitude that counts. Not that I really behave like the stereotypical metalhead either, but still. Image should mean very little.
