Dark Passion Play is the sixth studio album by Finnish symphonic power metal quintet Nightwish, released on September 28 2007 in Europe.

Album line-up
Anette Olzon - Lead vocals
Tuomas Holopainen - Keyboards, Piano, Backing vocals
Erno Vuorinen - Lead guitar, Acoustic guitar
Jukka Nevalainen - Drums, Percussion
Marco Hietala - Bass guitar, Vocals, Acoustic guitar

Tracklist

01. The Poet and the Pendulum (very interesting and beautiful 14 minute track)
02. Bye Bye Beautiful
03. Amaranth
04. Cadence of Her Last Breath
05. Master Passion Greed (Beautiful solo, with a great sentence "All within me gone.. But pain and hope. Hoping that the pain will fade away" That line stayed in my head ever since.
06. Eva
07. Sahara
08. Whoever Brings the Night
09. For the Heart I Once Had
10. The Islander
11. Last of the Wilds (Beautiful instrumental song)
12. 7 Days to the Wolves
13. Meadows of Heaven

This is one of the first album's I got, I was 15. Went to go on holidays the week after and I just couldn't stop listening to this album.
I kept listening to either:
Entire The Poet and the Pendulum,
Cadence of Her Last Breath,
Master Passion Greed solo,
Sahara intro,
Last of the Wilds.
These songs blown me away. And after listening to this album I searched for more Nightwish on the web..
Now I don't like this album as much anymore because I now know Tarja's beautiful voices in several older albums like Oceanborn.
This was still a great album and I listened to it for quite a while. I'm rating this a 7.5

Solo I've mentioned from Master Passion Greed from 2:34 to 3:25

Oh, I love this album of Nightwish, Sahara has such a good intro, I can't deny it either.
This album is great even though I don't have it (Download Smile ) .
I just think I miss the Escapist on this album, one of Anette's best songs..
8/10

I have the 2-disc edition of that album, but I never listen to the instrumental songs.
Sahara is a great song indeed, I mostly listen to Poet and the Pendulum, Amaranth and Cadence of her last breath.

I also miss Escapist on the album, it's my favourite NW song with Anette.
